Unemployment Rate in Saudi Arabia Drops to 4.4% in Q4 2023

The unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia (nationals and non-nationals) dropped in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 4.4 percent, a decrease from the third quarter of 2023 by 0.7 percent where it stood at 5.1 percent.
The overall unemployment rate of Saudis also decreased, reaching 7.7 percent in the fourth quarter compared to 8.6 percent in the third quarter of 2023.
The Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed on Thursday that the unemployment rate for Saudi women dropped in the fourth quarter, reaching 13.7 percent compared to 16.3 percent in the third quarter, while the unemployment rate for Saudi males was stable at 4.6 percent.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, there was a decline in the total labor force participation rate (Saudis and non-Saudis) compared to the third quarter of the same year, reaching 60.4 percent.
The labor force participation rate for the total number of Saudis decreased in the fourth quarter, reaching 51.3 percent.
