SPA -- Asian shares were mixed Tuesday, AP reported.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 lost 0.6% to finish at 23,379.81. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 slid 2.2% to 6,712.30. South Korea's Kospi declined 0.3% to 2,085.60. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.2% to 26,386.58, while the Shanghai Composite recovered earlier losses to inch up 0.1% at 2,879.02.
Benchmark crude oil gained 21 cents to $56.17 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It rose 79 cents to $55.96 a barrel on Monday. Brent crude oil, the international standard, gained 13 cents to $61.05 a barrel.
The dollar rose to 109.16 Japanese yen from 109.00 yen on Monday. The euro weakened to $1.1074 from $1.1080.
