France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.49%

France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.49%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.50%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 4.62% or 2.36 points to trade at 53.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 4.40% or 0.98 points to end at 23.27 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 3.98% or 0.39 points to 10.09 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Danone SA (PA:DANO), which fell 0.42% or 0.26 points to trade at 61.56 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 0.05% or 0.01 points to end at 20.15 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was up 0.15% or 0.02 points to 13.58.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were GTT (PA:GTT) which rose 6.10% to 74.80, Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which was up 5.70% to settle at 74.15 and Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which gained 5.31% to close at 9.91.

The worst performers were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 2.42% to 38.35 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 1.23% to settle at 4.82 and ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which was down 1.11% to 8.93 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 362 to 204 and 103 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.73% to 26.00 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 3.40 to $1793.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.18 to hit $40.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.28 to trade at $43.08 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1306, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.9056.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 96.757.
