Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.64%

Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Resources and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.64%, while the MDAX index added 1.73%, and the TecDAX index added 1.27%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.90% or 0.331 points to trade at 8.808 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 3.20% or 0.665 points to end at 21.425 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 3.03% or 1.110 points to 37.735 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 20.64% or 0.666 points to trade at 2.561 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 1.89% or 1.925 points to end at 100.025 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was up 0.35% or 0.55 points to 158.20.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which rose 13.69% to 37.380, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 7.49% to settle at 4.436 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 4.07% to close at 41.970.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 0.25% to 38.325 in late trade, Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which lost 0.14% to settle at 71.800 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 0.06% to 116.525 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.82% to 9.375, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 3.40% to settle at 42.235 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which gained 3.20% to close at 21.425.

The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 20.64% to 2.561 in late trade, Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which lost 0.25% to settle at 38.325 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 0.06% to 116.525 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 511 to 158 and 68 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.35% to 30.01 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 2.95 to $1792.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.20% or 0.08 to hit $40.57 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.34 to trade at $43.14 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1312, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.9057.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 96.720.
