India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.33%

India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.33% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.51%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 7.76% or 241.10 points to trade at 3349.90 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 5.86% or 29.05 points to end at 524.95 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.47% or 280.95 points to 6565.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 3.53% or 12.70 points to trade at 346.75 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.98% or 5.30 points to end at 172.70 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 2.87% or 18.40 points to 622.75.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 7.84% to 3352.75, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 6.10% to settle at 526.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 4.37% to close at 6557.95.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.03% to 172.60 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 2.73% to settle at 194.30 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.52% to 92.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 877 to 755 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1324 fell and 1247 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.38% to 25.1025 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.53% or 9.50 to $1784.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.33% or 0.54 to hit $40.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.47 to trade at $42.63 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.34% to 74.880, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 84.4420.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 96.968.
